About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and innovative professional to take a leading role in shaping high-quality, future-focused learning experiences for our students. The role involves developing students’ employment skills aligned with vocational and academic pathways, with a strong emphasis on meeting local industry needs.

You will be responsible for creating and sustaining outstanding educational provision, ensuring that learning is engaging, innovative, and of the highest standard. A key aspect of the role will be the ongoing monitoring, evaluation, and enhancement of curriculum delivery to maximise student achievement and support the organisation in meeting its strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and support a team of teachers to deliver high quality teaching and learning, with an ethos of high expectations of student achievement which results in high achievement

  • To take ownership and responsibility for the performance of the area including student outcomes, experience and safety and the quality of teaching and
  • Implement the College’s teaching, learning and assessment strategy with the aim of improving the quality of teaching and
  • Lead on the performance management of staff members including giving on-going feedback and ensuring timely completion of all appropriate induction, probationary reviews and performance development reviews according to College
  • Maintain expert knowledge of curriculum developments in courses, qualifications and funding and actively contribute to the continuous development of a curriculum that meets local individual and business needs, including the development of non-funded commercial
  • Have responsibility with the Director for the specific planning of the curriculum including qualifications, schemes of work and teaching hours of the agreed programme of courses in the subject
  • Thoroughly monitor the performance of the students and the subject area using data such as achievement rates, value added and student destinations, and to continuously monitor and evaluate performance and
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students in the curriculum with particular reference to those under 18 years and vulnerable
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Vocational/academic qualification linked to the learning area
  • A recognised teaching qualification
  • A recognised management qualification (Desirable)

  • Appropriate experience and curriculum knowledge of Maths
  • Comprehensive understanding of the programmes within the learning area
  • Knowledge and experience of the Ofsted inspection process
  • An inspirational and motivational leader who is able to effectively communicate the vision and ethos of the learning area
  • Creativity and enthusiasm to promote a positive College image to the local community and stakeholders
