Preparing you for your next steps is integral to everything we do at Telford College. We have a dedicated team of careers advisors which are qualified up to level 6 to support you to your next steps whether it be employment, apprenticeship, higher education or further studies at college.

Telford College works with over 1,200 employers locally and nationally through our partnerships, work placements, apprenticeships and mentoring scheme so we can support you to build links with your career aspiration.

Alongside our employers, Telford works with universities throughout the UK, with many universities from the region come in regularly to work with students to support your choices.

We have a dedicated careers area within the Student Hub, where you can talk to Frank Stretton a level 6 qualified careers advisor. 

Frank works alongside our course information team, personal tutors and student hub team to give you access to impartial careers advice throughout the college from initial contact to reaching your career aspiration.

We can deliver on a one-to-one basis or as a group activity and hold the matrix standard for student support so you can be reassured about the quality and relevance of the advice we provide. We aim to inspire and motivate our students to think more broadly and ambitiously about their future.

Careers advice

Student can access one-to-one careers advice appointments by booking an appointment through Moodle or coming into the Student Hub, parents/guardians/careers are welcome to attend these appointments, but must pre-book and arrive at main reception – as well as access drop-in sessions in the Student Hub and Rendezvous as mentioned on the careers calendar.

Other services the careers team offer to support you are:

  • Careers resource hub on Moodle
  • Information on all the options available to you from further education, apprenticeships, higher education, employment, training routes, internships and GAP years
  • What careers are available locally (LMI), nationally and internationally
  • Progressing to Universities; complete a UCAS application and personal statement, clearing process and student finance
  • Support with CV writing, searching and applying for jobs and interview preparation
  • Host employment, higher education and apprenticeship fair
  • Support with mock interviewing for interviews
  • Mentoring scheme in partnership with 1 million mentors
  • Support with accessing higher level qualifications through Aspire to HE

Every year many students decide to go on to university studies and our Careers Advisors are here to support students in researching and choosing degree courses and universities, including help with UCAS applications.
