About Charlotte

Hi charlotte! What can learners expect if they come to study in your department?

Fantastic facilities, understanding staff and lots of practical development. We have limited time in the classroom so we like to put things into practice quickly to give the students the best opportunities from the start.

tell us a little bit about yourself...

I went to Orleton Park School in Wellington then progressed to Radbrook in Shrewsbury to complete my Beauty Therapy qualifications

When I first qualified I worked in a local salon to gain experience for approximately 4 years. While working there I attended Telford College (or TCAT as it was then) to complete various part time courses to gain further qualifications in Holistic Therapies.

This is where my drive and passion for teaching began, my tutor really inspired me and encouraged me to do it (we still talk to this day). I decided to leave the salon and work for myself. I set up a mobile beauty business, which was very successful and very hard work. At the same time, I started my initial 10-week teacher training course. I was only 23.

What do you enjoy the most about your job?

I love the students, supporting them, seeing them grow and develop. I feel very comfortable in the classroom. I have a wonderful team, we are tight knit and extremely supportive of each other and our students.

How do you and your team get the best out of students?

We are all there for them, we listen to them, we help them, we support, we guide them and most of all encourage them. Nothing is ever too much for the team. We never fail the students, there is always a way to support even if they don’t think there is.

List a few of the main career progression opportunities.

Local salons, local restaurants, cruise liners, health spas, business owners, trainers, working in the media (TV etc).

what do you do in your spare time?

I have an active life, I love to walk, keep fit, weight train, swim and I’m very much a social butterfly. I love seeing friends and family, I have 1 brother and 1 sister. My niece is 8 and I love spending time with her. I have a 16 month old daughter who is also very demanding. To relax I visit the beauty salon for regular facials, pedicures and massages.
