About the course

You will be trained to work in a warehouse environment taking deliveries, storing goods, picking/packing orders, loading goods for dispatch and maintaining stock.
You would also be expected to train to safely operate a range of warehouse equipment relevant to your role and setting. This could include Materials Handling Equipment to facilitate these tasks. Warehouse operators are expected to communicate with a wide range of people and offer a quality service. You may also be expected to work to tight deadlines and possibly operate a flexible working system including shifts.

Many apprentices remain employed with the company and continue to progress into supervisory roles. This in turn can lead to a Supply Chain Management Apprenticeship.

In order to meet the apprenticeship standards, apprentices must:
1. Gain a minimum of Level 1 English and attempt a Level 2 English
2. Gain a minimum of Level 1 Maths and attempt a Level 2 Maths

Apprentices will attend their place of work daily where their training will be facilitated by a dedicated mentor. This process will be closely monitored by a personal assessor. The
apprentice will meet with their assessor every 3-4 weeks on a one to one basis where targets will be agreed and
assignments will be set in order to cover the full range of criteria.

Telford College works with the employer to create a specific development plan to meet the apprenticeship standards which the apprentice is expected to work towards. Whilst working to the plan in the workplace the apprentice will track the journey mapping to the require standards showing
valuable knowledge, skills and practical experience gained.

Alongside an off the job record highlighting all the learning that has taken place (a min of 20% of the duration of the apprenticeship), will be completed.

Apprentices are supported in the workplace with regular reviews between the employer, tutor and apprentice to discuss progress and achievements.
When the apprenticeship standard and off the job learning hours have been completed apprentices move to gateway. This is where the employer confirms competency and confirms the apprentice is ready for end point assessment.
