Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR
The information you provide will be used to create a student record but may also be used for additional administrative, academic or health and safety reasons at the college. Your information will not be passed to other organisations for marketing, but the college itself may use your information for surveys aimed at enabling the college to monitor performance, improve quality and plan future provision. If you default on any payments, your information may be passed to a debt collection agency for recovery purposes only. How We Use Your Personal Information
This privacy notice is issued by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) on behalf of the Secretary of State for the Department of Education (DfE) to inform learners about the Individualised Learner Record (ILR) and how their personal information is used in the ILR. Your personal information is used by the DfE to exercise our functions under article 6(1)(e) of the UK GDPR and to meet our statutory responsibilities, including under the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009. The ILR collects data about learners and learning undertaken. Publicly funded colleges, training organisations, local authorities, and employers (FE providers) must collect and return the data to the ESFA each year under the terms of a funding agreement, contract or grant agreement. It helps ensure that public money distributed through the ESFA is being spent in line with government targets. It is also used for education, training, employment, and well being purposes, including research. We retain ILR learner data for 3 years for operational purposes and 66 years for research purposes. The DfE and the English European Social Fund (ESF) Managing Authority (or agents acting on their behalf) may contact learners to carry out research and evaluation to inform the effectiveness of training. Data Privacy Notice
Telford College is what's known as 'the controller' of the personal data you provide to us. We need to know your basic personal data to provide you with details regarding your interaction with Telford College it will also be used by the college's analysis services, where appropriate. We will not collect any personal data from you that we do not need to provide and oversee services to yourself. We have Data Protection procedures in place to oversee the effective and secure processing of your personal data. We will not disclose the information you entrust us with to third parties except where we have a statutory or contractual duty to do so (including to your employer, if sponsored), where you have given prior approval or where an official Telford College third-party data sharing agreement exists.
