About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen in out IT & Digital department for a Digital Project Manager.

The Digital Project Manager will hold a key role within the IT and Digital team and be a key component in the college achieving its digital strategic aims.

The role will be responsible for coordinating the colleges digital projects. Ensuring they are prioritised to meet the college and departments aims, that they are planned, costed and have a clear understandable end goal. The role will have a keen eye on the rollout of technology ensuring it is used effectively and to a shared standard across the college.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in project management, working with multiple stakeholders both internal and external. They will have excellent organisational skills with the ability to monitor multiple projects at the same time, at different stages to ensure they all meet the desired end goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • To oversee the colleges digital projects. Ensuring they are effectively planned, resourced and costed. Meeting the initial budget and target dates.
  • Support the Director of IT and Digital innovation and college leadership team to prioritise projects based on their impact, cost effectiveness and value added.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to determine the project requirements and deadlines. Establishing the required resources, a plan of work, testing and roll out plan with any appropriate internal and/or external teams.
  • Work with the Director of IT and Digital Innovation to establish the viability of a project before it is added to a work schedule. Considering the risk, effort, cost and impact.
  • Create and maintain a long term project plan, mapping out the colleges digital project plan as an operational guide.
  • Work with the Director of IT and Digital Innovation to create a digital working group. Feeding back the status on all colleges digital projects and collecting feedback from the group. Working with the group to steer the digital goals of the college.
  • Create strong relationships with external providers, clearly communicating requirements and deadlines, and ensuring milestone targets are met as projects progress.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Proven ability of managing multiple large and small scale projects within the digital environment, working with various internal and external stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met and projects are organised.
  • Have a strong knowledge of IT and Digital application in an educational setting (Preferably Further Education)
  • Have a strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and ideally  project management software
  • Hold a relevant project management qualification or be willing to work towards within the first 6 months in the role.
  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline

  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
