About the role

We are looking for a Physics teacher to join our A Level team. You would be part of a wider STEM team which includes A Level Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Core Maths, Computing and T Level Science.

This year in our PAG visit, the examiner was incredibly positive about the innovative teaching at Telford College. He discussed the skilful way the Physics teachers used questioning to check learning as well as the creative set of practical assessments.

Our A Level Physics students have to study A Level Mathematics, many also study Further Mathematics or Computer Science. A significant majority of Physics students progress to university to study Physics or Mathematics, often at highly selective universities.

As well as relevant experience, you will be qualified with a Physics, or related degree. You will have, or be willing to work towards, a Level 5 teaching qualification.

You will be joining the A Level department, an area in growth. We are an ambitious department, and we are planning further exciting improvements and development to our provision in the short, medium and long term with a clear vision for the young people of Telford.

Key Responsibilities
  • To deliver high quality teaching across the full range of the department’s A Level Physics provision.
  • Play an active role in the marketing of the College and the department through such activities as open days and through liaison with local employers and schools.
  • Engage in core duties including preparation of inspirational lessons, regular marking and 1-1 feedback meetings with students, monitoring student progress, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.

Qualifications and training

  • Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Teaching qualification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Ideally has relevant teaching experience within FE.

  • Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
  • Able to communicate effectively with students and peers.
