A star of the England ladies football team is coming to Telford next month to hold a coaching session for local youngsters.
Jill Scott will be at Telford College of Arts and Technology’s sports dome on October 27 to lead a half-term soccer roadshow.
It is open to girls aged between six and 18, and will run from 10am to 3pm. The course costs £20, and includes a free gift, plus prizes to be won on the day.
Spaces are limited, and are on a first-come, first-served basis. Call 07526 188110, email email@example.com, or contact the sports team at TCAT on 01952 642237.
Jill is a member of the Manchester City team which has just clinched the Women’s Super League title for the first time, and was part of the England team which finished third in the 2015 World Cup.
The 29-year-old attacking midfielder has more than 100 international caps, and has scored 15 times for the England team.
Jill also represented Team GB at the London Olympics, was voted the 2008 FA Players’ Player of the Year, and the 2011 FA International Player of the Year.
Claire Riekstins, from the sports team at TCAT, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young girls to learn from one of the best female footballers in the country.
“We are delighted that Jill has chosen to use the excellent sporting facilities here at TCAT, and we are excited to host what is sure to be a successful and enjoyable day.”
Jill says girls of all abilities are welcome at the Telford coaching session: “I’ve been doing soccer schools for the last two years or so now and I absolutely love doing stuff like this. It’s great to see how many girls are now getting involved.
“It was difficult for myself growing up because there were a lot of boys playing and you were the only girl playing. But now seeing the girls and talking to their parents, they say their confidence has really gone up because they are around girls and not around boys all the time.”
