Shropshire football fans will be dreaming of stepping out on the famous Wembley pitch when they take part in the first round of this year’s FA People’s Cup.
Telford College’s Haybridge campus will again host the opening round of the competition, where male and female teams will take part in an afternoon of action.
Matches get under way in the college sports hall at noon on Wednesday, February 13.
Last year, Telford College Public Services won the men’s competition to progress to the next round, while the female contest went to another team from the college, Girlscan.
The FA People’s Cup was first formed in 2015, following on from the popularity of the FA Umbro Fives competition before it.

In its first year, over 30,000 people took part in the competition which resulted in over 7,000 new teams being created. Last year another 45,000 players took part in what has become the biggest five-a-side tournament in the country.
Winners will receive tickets to the 2019 Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on May 18, and one player from each successful team will have the opportunity to lift their trophy on the Wembley Stadium pitch at half time.
Claire Riekstins, from the Telford College sports department, said: “Round one of the competition includes male and female futsal tournaments. Players can register whether they are part of an established team or an individual who can join ‘wild card’ teams that are formed prior to the tournament starting.
