Gold medal winner launches new fitness training classesPublished: January 16, 2017
Shropshire’s Paralympic gold medallist Mickey Bushell is launching a new series of fitness classes in Telford.
Mickey, who struck gold at London 2012, is running a level two Personal Training evening programme at Telford College of Arts and Technology, starting on January 20.
The sessions run from 6pm
to 7pm in the TCAT sports hall, costing ¬£5 per session. For more details, call the college on 01952 642237.
Telford-based Mickey, who was awarded the MBE for services to athletics in 2013, said he wanted to give something back to the college which had helped to give him the skills to launch his own personal training business.
He said: “These classes are a great way to increase your general fitness or help prepare you for an upcoming event.
“Functional cross training is ideal for people of all fitness levels and abilities – some of the results I have seen already in my other classes have been amazing. We promote a real friendly atmosphere.”
Mickey added: “I chose TCAT because of the fantastic facilities and great teaching staff. Over the many years that I attended the college I’ve grown as a person.
“They helped me through all my course work, which I admit I struggled to complete, as I was still training for major championships. Nothing seemed too much trouble to make sure I got everything done and up to standard.
“I’ve learnt many new skills that now I put into practice growing my own business of personal training. I highly recommend TCAT to anyone that wants to further their education as I believe it is a learning hub that can help anyone reach their future goals.”
Claire Riekstins, a member of the TCAT sports team, said: “We are proud to be supporting Mickey and hosting these sessions. We hope to see the session really busy – including a few familiar faces from our staff!”
