Learners have an impact on the environment

Learners on the Foundation Learning Preparation for Life & Work course have recently produced an awareness display about the impact of litter on our environment and wildlife.

This included creating items from recycled household goods including tins, jars, cans, bottle tops and ice cream sticks – litter is not rubbish!!

The project inspired the group to sign up for local charity Telford Street Champions undertaking litter picking around the borough of Telford & Wrekin.

The students see this opportunity with Street Champions as a way of supporting the

environment together with saving animals from getting up and injured in our litter. To date, the students have collected litter from the areas of Hadley, Leegomery, Ketley and Wellington.

The students have enjoyed their volunteering and felt a great sense of achievement when an area has been cleared because of their efforts. Volunteering with a local community group is also a great addition to their CVs
