Talented teenager Lia Skelton has enrolled on a foundation degree in early years after being inspired to continue her studies by her time at Telford College.
Lia, 18 from Leegomery, has just completed a level three early years course at the college as she targets a career in the childcare sector.
The former Charlton School student said: “I have really enjoyed the course, which has enabled

me to complete assignments and get practical experience in an early years setting at the same time.
“Doing both practical and academic studies has been really beneficial. I have been able to write about my personal experiences within the setting in my college work.
“The tutors are really helpful, and have supported me to achieve the grades I have gained. Studying early years at Telford College has inspired me to continue, and I am enrolled on the foundation degree in September.”
She added: “If you are considering taking childcare at Telford College, I would recommend attending one of the open events, as you can meet the tutors who can help you along the right path.”
Early years tutor Rachael Round said: “Lia successfully progressed onto the level three programme from level two childcare. She is a motivated and conscientious student who has fully embraced college life.
“In addition to her studies, Lia has represented college as a student ambassador on information evenings and taster sessions.
“She has challenged herself in her studies to achieve high grades on the course, and fully deserves her place on the foundation degree programme.”
