A group of TCAT students got a taste of what the future could hold for them when they dropped into one of Jamie Oliver’s restaurants.
The Catering, Travel & Tourism and Hospitality students enjoyed a day out at the Christmas markets in Birmingham to experience life in a big city environment.
And as part of their trip they ate an amazing lunch at Jamie’s Italian – where a former TCAT student is now part of the kitchen team.
James Watkins, from Donnington, did a work placement at the restaurant last year as part of his level one Culinary Skills course, and ended up being offered a job.
Sue Hayward, quality and curriculum coordinator for catering hospitality, travel and tourism, at TCAT, said: “The students got chance to hear from James, who was proud to say that he has been awarded employee of the month on two occasions since starting work there.”
