TCAT students helping to light up the town for Christmas
Published: November 17, 2016Students from Telford College of Arts and Technology have been helping to organise the town’s spectacular Christmas lights switch-on this weekend.
A team of learners from TCAT’s Wellington campus have been working closely with members of tourism bureau Discover Telford on the Southwater switch-on, on November 19.
It follows a visit to the college from events and festival specialist Sarah Belcher, who is part of the parks, healthy spaces, and events team at Discover Telford.
She said: “I am excited to be working with a team that is enthusiastic and willing to learn.”
The TCAT group is made up of students from the business, creative and travel & tourism schools.
The college has had a thriving partnership with Discover Telford since September 2015, giving students the chance of real-life work experience.
Daniel Blasczyk, enrichment facilitator at TCAT said: “The students will have gained invaluable real life experience of planning and supporting a huge event like the switch-on at Southwater.”
Joanne Green, work placement co-ordinator at the college, added: “The students have been very enthusiastic about supporting this event – it’s great to see.”
