Top tips for students as they prepare for university lifePublished: June 19, 2017
Why should Shropshire students go to university, and what can they expect when they get there?
Those are some of the questions which will be answered at a special higher education information evening in Telford next week.
It is being held at the Whitehouse Hotel in Wellington on June 22, from 6.30pm to 8pm.
Speakers from universities including Staffordshire and Aberystwyth will be there, alongside experts from Telford College of Arts and Technology, and New College Telford. Refreshments will be provided.
Nick Owen, progression co-ordinator for student services at New College Telford, said: “We will be covering a wide range of topics on the evening, including the type of careers available to students when they graduate.
“We will also be looking at student finance, and student life – explaining what a typical day for a university student looks like. There will also be advice on how to make an application.”
The event is part of the new Aspire to HE project, led by the University of Wolverhampton, which is seeking to reach people who would not normally consider going into higher education.
Nick added: “We want to show people who are worried about how the process works, that there is a lot of help and information out there for them.”
