Work experience at Wellington Fire StationPublished: November 10, 2017
‘Bright spark’ Chelsea Jones completed a work experience at Wellington Fire Station.
Chelsea Jones, a health and social Care student, has completed work experience with the fire service based on Haygate Road, Wellington.
The local fire prevention team had recently been on campus giving students important fire prevention information which got Chelsea thinking about her career.
Chelsea made the decision that she would like to become a firefighter instead of going into a health related career.
Chelsea added: “I would like to thank the team at Wellington Fire Station for the day, I appreciate the time they took to show me the equipment and talking to me about what it’s like to be a firefighter.”
Placement coordinator at Telford College, Caroline Wrelton, contacted Wellington Fire Station and arranged for Chelsea to spend the day there as part of her course.
Chelsea thoroughly enjoyed the day and is determined that she will pursue this career.
Tracy Leah, learner manager for health and early years, said: “We are very proud of Chelsea, she has made a fantastic effort on the course and her feedback from the work experience was excellent”.
Telford College offer a range of A level and vocational courses to prepare students for working with in the fire service, more information can be found here defineyourfuture.co.uk or come to the next open event on 21 November 5pm.
