Accounting and finance is one of the biggest industries in the world due to the fact that every organisation needs to manage money.  If you’re well-organised, enjoy maths and budgeting, our foundation certificate in bookkeeping could be the perfect opportunity for you. You will be engaged in a wealth of expertise from our industry expert tutors who support you with two taught lessons each week and regular tutorials.  

We work closely with AAT, this allows us to keep our course content up to date so you’re learning about regulation updates as they happen.  This qualification will prepare you for junior and entry-level accounting roles. It delivers a solid foundation in finance administration, covering areas such as double entry bookkeeping to basic costing principles and using accounting software.  Most students will start with this qualification.    You will learn finance, accountancy, business and communications skills.    

AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is suited for:

AAT Qualifications are recognised by employers as practical and technical qualifications that prepare students for the world of work and for working specifically in accountancy and finance roles.   The Foundation Certificate in Accounting can lead to employment as:

Entry Requirements

AAT does not set any prerequisites for the study of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting. However, for the best chance of success, we recommend that students begin their studies with a good standard of English and Maths and these will be assessed on the first week of programme.

Additional Details

- Students must successfully complete four unit assessments and one synoptic assessment to achieve this qualification. The proportion of this qualification assessed by external assessment is 100%.

In addition to the tuition fee there is a fee payable to AAT for registration. This is your membership to the AAT who are a professional examining body. Current registration fees, which can be found on the AAT website, are paid by students directly to AAT. Part time courses run one full day a week (9:00am - 4:30pm) or two evenings per week (6:00pm - 9:00pm).

After the course

After the course you can progress onto the Advanced Diploma in Accounting Level 3 or you could start a career as a Bookkeeper or gain employment in one of the above roles.
