We thought we would help by putting a few of those myths to bed about coming to college

Honestly, it’s not that scary and it’s an experience you’ll come to enjoy after years of being at school

“College might be too big for me”

When you enrol at Telford College we treat you like adults and we provide the space you need and excellent opportunities to learn. Together with our university-standard facilities we give everyone the best chances to progress into careers.

“I might not fit it?”

Come to college and be who you want to be, meet like minded people and make new friends. We have students from all over the region which is what brings a fantastic atmosphere to Telford College.

“What if I discover I don’t like my course?”

Don’t worry! You have a five week period at the start of term where if you’re not enjoying your first choice you can swap not drop onto another course.

“I’m scared of getting something wrong”

If you get something wrong don’t worry it just means we might not have applied it to your learning style in the best way. Tutors adapt their teaching to ensure you can flourish.

Travelling to college

So… it’s time to start thinking about how you’ll be getting to college in September

With good travel links from all over Shropshire you’ll be able to access Telford College from where ever you live. Here are some examples to help you plan

Do you live in Shrewsbury?

There’s lots of different ways to get to Telford including:

  • Bus – Jump on the X4 from Shrewsbury and you’ll arrive within 40 minutes.
  • Train – It only takes 13 minutes to get to Wellington with a 10 minute walk to campus you’ll arrive in plenty of time. 
  • Driving – Come down the M54 and get off at J6 and we’re just around the corner with plenty of FREE student parking.

Are you travelling from Wolverhampton?
Your options include:

  • The train from Wolverhampton to Wellington can only take 22 minutes (straight through). Don’t forget the 10 minute walk the other end.
  • Driving – come straight down the M54 and use J6 which is only 18 miles.

If you’re coming from Bridgnorth

  • Bus – There is a college bus every morning from low town and returning every afternoon. 
  • Driving – It’s a 25 minute journey through Sutton Maddock
