James Hackett

James Hackett

Level 3 Sports nominated by Melanie Newbrook

James is an exceptional student. He is on an EHCP and has grown so much in confidence over the past year studying with us.

James had 100% attendance and has volunteered to help with many events such as information evenings, the staff well-being CPD day, sports hall athletics championships and County Schools athletics.

Outside of college, James enjoys Martial Arts; he has gained many qualifications and is now able to teach.

Level 3 Business nominated by Lisa Allen

Cosby has embraced all aspects of his college life by being a course representative, exemplary student with excellent attendance and punctuality as well as taking part in work experience. He attends all lessons prepared to learn and completed assignments to an exceedingly high standard using extensive research.

Whilst English has not been his first language, Cosby asks when he does not understand as well as completing research to help improve his spoken and written communication skills. He actively takes part in class discussions looking to improve his English, as well as presentations and group work as a team leader and member.

Kyle has good attendance and commitment to the course and is supportive of staff and his peers.

He scored a distinction for every unit of work which is outstanding!

Functional Skills Maths and English nominated by Jacquie Slater

Emma enrolled on to Level 1 Maths and English in September. She has been working as an HCA at Princess Royal Hospital and now wishes to go in to nursing.

She has been very motivated throughout the year, completing all work, both in class and homework outside class. She has supported her peers in class, even setting up a ‘study group’ for maths with some of the other learners, so they can discuss their work outside class and help each other with homework.

Cade Mills

Cade Mills

Level 1 Construction nominated by Jo Hodgkiss-Wilson

Cade initially believed that he was not capable of securing a good grade in English since he had ‘failed’ in school.

However, he worked extremely hard, grew in confidence and achieved increasingly higher marks in his coursework as the course progressed – producing impressive pieces of writing during the lockdown.

Level 1 Sports and PUS nominated by Dionne Delves

I would like to nominate Armando for his dedication to his studies throughout his time with us, and particularly for the extraordinary way he has stepped up in recent months to continue his studies remotely.

The work produced during this time has demonstrated that Armando has the commitment and skills required to transfer to a level 3 programme directly from a level 1.

Daniel Anderson

Daniel Anderson

Level 1 Transport Maintenance nominated by Ben Armstrong

Daniel deserves an award from his resilience and commitment to this course alone. He is a model student and has always shown excellent attendance and timekeeping which are two main key skills to have before starting any career.

Daniel showed very good aptitude in class, he is always enthusiastic about vehicles and will be a very good mechanic in the future.

7th Form A level student nominated by Yvonne Thomas

Faye is a star student and is always conscientious of her commitment to her subjects. Faye is always enthusiastic about going over and above to get the most out of college and her opportunities to learn.

I’ve been most impressed by Faye’s enrichment activities whilst shes’ been here including entering and winning writing competitions and talking on BBC Radio Shropshire about a piece of work she had published. Faye is always keen to push her own limits to learn new skills and make the most from her opportunists. Well done Faye
