After successfully achieving a Warehouse NVQ whilst working at Schneider Electric, supported by one of Telford College’s own assessors (Mike Garbett) 17 years ago, Sue got the education bug and started to develop her skills further by enrolling onto IT courses through Pitman Training.
The Director of the branch could see potential with Sue’s ambition and drive to succeed so he offered Sue a training role at the Telford Pitman branch where she developed her IT and teaching skills. This opportunity gave Sue the skills required to become a Microsoft Master Instructor and build her confidence with classroom teaching. Sue stayed here for 4 years.
Sue then progressed within her career in education by becoming an assessor, 12 years of which have been spent working at Telford College where Sue gained a wide range of additional qualifications to strengthen her skills within her assessor role, including completing her teaching degree in 2013.
Sue’s career has progressed over the last 5 years by becoming a Business Programme Manager and now Assistant Principal. Sue believes that the success to any team is to have strong leadership and a team that fully believe in the opportunities education and apprenticeships give to our students.
Sue lives with her partner Dave, she has 3 daughters and a grandchild. In her spare time, she loves being with her family and friends and going away for short breaks. Sue is keen to plan a trip to America and is always adding in different locations so she can have a once in a lifetime road trip!
