Parents & Carers

Keeping Your Child Safe

At Telford College, your child’s safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities. We are committed to providing a caring, inclusive and secure environment where every student feels supported, respected and able to succeed. From the very start, students are introduced to our dedicated BeSafe Team and learn how to stay safe both in college and online. These important messages are reinforced through tutorials and enrichment sessions, helping young people build confidence, resilience and awareness.

We take a proactive and personalised approach to support. This includes:
  • Mind Unwind Workshops to help manage stress, exam pressure and online safety
  • Confidential counselling with trained professionals
  • Mental health support from qualified first aiders
  • Safeguarding and early help for students and families when challenges arise
  • Targeted intervention, including specialist external professionals working with students in college
  • Personalised support, such as tailored pastoral plans, time-out spaces and de-escalation strategies

And our elected Student Council has a seat on the college’s board of directors to ensure the voice of our young people is heard at the highest level.

We want every student to feel safe — and to know how to seek help. All concerns are taken seriously and acted on quickly.
Our college community is built on respect and inclusion. Every student, regardless of background or identity, has the right to feel safe. We operate a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, including physical, emotional, verbal and online abuse.
Students regularly tell us they feel safe at college, and their voice is central to how we continue to improve. Through surveys, student voice activities, and representation on the Student Council — which has a seat at board level — their views help shape a safer environment for all.

If you ever have concerns about your child or another student, please contact our BeSafe Team:
