About the role

Telford College are looking for an experienced and committed individual to join our team, delivering high-quality Teacher Training provision to aspiring educators. This role is central to providing an outstanding student experience that supports learners in achieving excellent academic outcomes and developing the skills needed for success in the FE sector.

As a Course Mentor, you will provide individualised support, guidance, and feedback to trainee teachers, helping them grow both professionally and personally. This includes conducting observations and offering developmental feedback to enhance teaching practice.

You will also undertake a range of administrative and programme development duties aimed at continuously improving the quality of our provision and the overall learner journey. Your contribution will be vital in upholding our commitment to excellence in Further Education and teacher training.

Interview dates will be between 21/05/2025 and 23/05/2025

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver the Teacher Training programme.
  • Provide academic and pastoral mentorship for a designated group of learners.
  • Participate in the Teaching, Learning and Observation process.
  • Contribute to the development, review and enhancement of course content, teaching materials and delivery strategies.
  • Conduct regular mentoring sessions and support other mentors on the programme.
  • Track learner engagement and development using internal systems.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to team meetings.
  • Contribute towards promoting and growing the programme externally.
  • Provide assignment and assessment material appropriate to each specific programme.
  • Evaluate and assess (formative and summative) the work of learners in relation to the curriculum criteria and provide timely constructive and helpful learner feedback.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Teaching qualification, e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE or DTLLs
  • Assessment/Assessing/Assessor Qualifications (A1, TAQA, CAVA) (desirable)
  • Mentoring and Coaching Qualification (desirable)

Skills and expertise

  • Strong occupational history and competence within the Teacher Training sector with extensive and in-depth knowledge.
  • Ability to deliver high quality teaching.
  • Extensive experience of teaching across all levels.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload.
  • To be an inspiring teacher, enthusiastic with the ability to motivate students and a willingness and ability to tackle poor student performance.
