About the course

Our new ESOL course helps learners aged between 16 and 18 to improve their English skills, progress onto further education courses at the college or seek employment.

Based at our Wellington campus, it includes elements of English, maths, employability skills and taster sessions in a number of vocational departments. Students will also receive specialist careers advice from college advisors as well as enrichment talks from a number of local employers.

Topics and units

The course includes functional skills qualifications in both English and maths based on initial assessment
levels.
Improving English skills with topics such as:
• Life & employability skills
• Citizenship
• Digital skills
Taster sessions in vocational areas such as:
• Construction
• Automotive Engineering
• Engineering
• Catering
• Hairdressing
• Beauty and more

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, just an English and maths assessment to find out what the students’ current level is to help us identify development areas.
