About the course

Your first step towards a career in the construction industry starts in our designated construction centre where you will complete practical brickwork tasks. At the same time, you will also study the vocational knowledge elements of the course, and you will be taught by qualified experienced staff who have many years of trade experience and who will guide and support you along the way. The course includes carrying out block laying, bricklaying and cavity walling tasks/assessments; health, safety and welfare in construction; maths and English. Learners will need to show commitment, motivation and be willing to study both the theoretical and practical components of the course. A chance to build a career in an area where the UK is currently experiencing big staff shortages.

– Contribute to setting out and building up to dpc level
– Health and safety
– Carry out blocklaying activities
– Principles of building theory
– Carry out cavity walling activities

Progressing to: Level two studies, or apprentice bricklayer

Must complete initial assessment and be working towards Level 1 maths and English
