About the course

Enhance your knowledge of computers and start problem solving by studying and understanding software, system development, data and applications. You’ll cover topics such as software design, programming, hardware communications, data structures and storage types, features and uses of software, social aspects such as security, internet use and misuse, and the implications and consequences of computer usage. Our computing and IT course is assessed by two written papers – one on computing principles, the other on algorithms and problem-solving.

Careers and progression

Progressing to: Degree courses such as artificial intelligence, computer science, mechatronics, electrical and electronic engineering, games design and games programming.
Aspirational careers: Video game designer, IT security specialist, web developer, database administrator, systems analyst, data scientist

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grades 9-4 including grade 6 in maths and grade 4 in English
