About the course

This is an exciting course focused on a wide-ranging understanding of the IT sector with both practical and written elements where you will have opportunities to get hands-on with the latest technologies, gaining a nationally-recognised qualification in computing. We aim to improve your future employment prospects by helping you to develop work-ready skills, ensuring you are able to undertake work experience in partnership with recognised computing employers and ensuring you have successfully achieved your English and maths. This course covers a variety of industry related topics including communicating in the IT industry, working in the IT industry, computer systems, and IT security.

Careers and progression

Progressing to: IT Level 3 if achieving a merit or higher, or straight into employment
Aspirational careers: Software developer, programmer, analyst, computer technician, project manager, website designer and games developer

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English or maths

Additional information

Trips include visit to Milton Keynes to see the first mainframe computer and other ad hoc trips depending on student career aspirations. Uniform is to be worn: this can be purchased from the college at approx £10 per polo shirt.
