About the course

This qualification is aimed at senior warehouse operatives or team leaders. It is a combined knowledge and competence qualification which is aimed at individuals who would like to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to supervise within the warehousing environment. Operatives could, for example, be working in warehousing and storage, transport or freight forwarding. This qualification forms the combined knowledge and competence components of the SASE Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage (England).

Topics and units

The qualification includes the following mandatory content:

  • Contribute to the provision of customer service in logistics operations
  • Provide leadership for your team in logistics operations
  • Supervise the receipt, storage and dispatch of goods
  • Take responsibility for health, safety and security in your team

Learners select optional content from a variety of optional units.

Careers and progression

This qualification is aimed at individuals who would like to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to operate within a supervisory role in a warehousing environment.

Progression routes for a learner possessing this qualification could include the Level 3 Diploma in Driving Goods Vehicles (RQF) or the SASE Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Driving Goods Vehicles (England).

Entry requirements

There are no prerequisites for this qualification, however it is recommended that students have a minimum of level 2 in literacy or equivalent. In April 2021, the Government launched the Level 3 Free Courses for Jobs offer. This policy gives adults without a Level 3 qualification the chance to gain their first level 3 qualification for free. Eligibility for the offer has been expanded so that any adult in England who is earning under the National Living Wage annually (£18,525 in FY2022-23) or are unemployed will also be able to access these free qualifications, even if they already have a Level 3 qualification or higher. The expansion of eligibility for these qualifications will provide vital opportunities for the lowest-paid adults to upskill.

Additional information

This qualification is assessed through a portfolio of evidence, and students must demonstrate their understanding of how to deal with situations in a safe and professional manner.
