Music Industry Day a success as musicians, presenters and producers share knowledge

Industry panel at Music Industry Day

Telford College recently hosted their second annual Music Industry Day at the Haybridge Campus, featuring music industry professionals from a range of roles such as radio presenters/producers, session musicians, music producers, and songwriters.

An industry panel was made up of Tom Longworth, Chris Clark and Gaby Kettle from BIMM university, Jacob Collins and Zach Bowden from the band ‘Recall the Remains’, as well as Simon Berry and Michaela Wylde from BBC Radio Shropshire/Wales.

Music panelThe day started with an industry panel Q&A, discussing topics such as routes into the music industry, the importance of people skills and versatility and quickfire questions from students.

Inspiring stories of industry experience were shared by all the panel including playing guitar with Robbie Williams and producing a radio show with Huw Stephens.

Music Students

Students were then invited onto stage for a session musician workshop, playing songs with direction from Chris and Tom of BIMM University. Students learnt about how to respond to musical prompts and stimuli, and the importance of communication in bands.

The day ended with a feedback session. Students performed and shared recordings of their work, receiving valuable feedback and insight from industry professionals in our recording studios and rehearsal spaces.
