A Telford College sports student is jetting off to Egypt this summer after gaining a work placement at a Red Sea travel resort.

Maddie Allen will be taking on a role as a sports animation leader at the Jaz Aquaviva resort in Hurghada when she finishes her level three sports studies.

It’s not he first time she has enjoyed an overseas adventure during her time at the college – she represented her club on the global stage in The Cheerleading Worlds competition in Florida last year.

The former student of Haberdashers’ Abraham Darby School at Madeley will be flying out to Egypt at the end of this month.

She said: “I love to travel, so when I saw this job being marketed I thought I’d apply.

“I’m really looking forward to it – it’s a chance to get involved in leading fitness classes, and working with kids’ clubs, which should be great fun.

“It’s a chance to gain some really valuable work experience, try new things, and experience life in a country with different cultures.”

Maddie said her Telford College course had helped to prepare her well for the role, giving her chance to help organise school athletics competitions, take charge of coaching sessions, and learn the value of teamwork.
