Are you looking to boost your workforce with enthusiastic new members of staff? Apprenticeships could be the answer.
Telford College is offering a wide range of apprenticeships this summer – and says it currently has top-quality candidates coming through who are eager to start earning, and learning.
Chris Field, the college’s employer relationship manager, said: “Good quality candidates are currently in the pipeline – our own students looking to leave college and progress to apprenticeships, plus external candidates from other local colleges, schools and sixth forms.
“We can make the whole process of employing an apprentice as easy as possible for the employer, and be their trusted expert training provider.”
Chris said the college was particularly keen to hear from employers on the lookout for accountancy apprentices, plus higher level lead maintenance apprentices.
“We also have property maintenance and bricklaying apprentices who are ready to start work in the construction industry,” he said.
Why should companies consider hiring apprentices? Here, Telford College lists some of the main benefits:
Key benefits of employing an apprentice?
- Hiring an apprentice is a cost-effective way to support the development of new skills and talent (savings on National Insurance Contribution can be significant).
- Apprentice outputs usually surpass their associated costs to the employer, delivering a net benefit to employers during their training, with the estimated yearly gain for employers being between £2,500 and £18,000 per apprentice during their training period.
- Starting as an apprentice is a great way for those with less experience in the industry to get their foot in the door. Many apprentices stay at their company after earning their qualification, becoming fully-fledged team members. Data from the National Apprenticeship Service shows that 90% of apprentices stay at their company after completing their course. Plus, there’s the added bonus of them already being familiar with your business.
- You can develop existing members of staff through apprenticeships. There’s no upper age limit, apprenticeships can be used to develop staff to gain new skills and knowledge which can aid staff retention and build a positive training culture.
