There’s no substitute for ‘real’ experience when it comes to preparing your young person for their dream career – and that’s why Telford College always places a big emphasis on work placements.

We have unrivalled contacts with top businesses, which means they’ll get chance to spend time at some of the region’s biggest and most influential companies to discover what the workplace is really like.

The possibilities are endless . . . from science labs to sports facilities, care homes to construction firms, media groups to major hair, beauty or catering chains, we’ll give them the best possible training for the next step on their journey.

What are industry placements?

Industry placements are the job experience part of a new qualification called T Levels. This new training will be 80% training delivery and 20% job experience.

Industry placements give you an opportunity to impress an employer and apply your learning in their company.

Industry placements are a minimum of 315 hours. This can take place over a period of weeks: for example, 1 or 2 days each week, in block weeks, or a mixture of both by arrangement with the company providing this for your young person’s benefit.

Study programme work placements

All students on all courses who are not completing an industry placement will need to find an opportunity to work with a local company for as many hours (at least 36) as they can. Gaining hours of work skills and experience is a great advantage to help students succeed in their future plans.
