Virtual open event will showcase college facilities

Telford College is showcasing its A level and higher education courses in a special virtual open event next week.

It will give prospective students an opportunity to explore the university-style campus, and follows the success of a similar online event this summer, which previewed the new curriculum for 2020/21.

This latest event, on October 14, will turn the spotlight on Telford College’s trailblazing 7th Form, plus the higher education, and access to higher education programme.

There will be a chance to hear first-hand from students and tutors, take a look at the industry-standard facilities, and hear about some of the plans for the 2021/22 academic year.

Principal and chief executive Graham Guest said: “We’re proud of the strong sense of community which we have created here at Telford College.

“We are now operating a blended learning timetable with a mixture of remote and on-site learning, to help minimise the risk of exposure to Covid-19.

“Feedback from students to the various new safety measures we have put in place around our campus has been excellent – they are commenting how they feel safe, welcomed and valued.

“We hope that this latest virtual event gives a flavour of the facilities, opportunities and atmosphere at Telford College, where our achievement rates are running ahead of the national average.

“It is a chance for young people to learn about potential study pathways, get an insight into life at Telford College, and benefit from the opportunity to hear from students and learner managers – and ask questions.”

Mr Guest added: “We are proud to be in the top 25% of providers nationally, with 96% of our students receiving offers from their first choice university.”
