7.4 hours per week. This role provides the opportunity for flexibility to the successful candidate to determine the best working hours for them as this course can be allocated to evenings or days and are on a rolling 10 weekly session therefore can be adapted per session if required to met student needs as well as the lecturers.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join an outstanding Health and Science department. The post holder will provide high quality teaching and access to learning in addition to undertaking associated tutorial duties. It is expected that the post holder will contribute to course design, development of programmes and the expansion of the area generally. The college has excellent relationships with the local NHS and other providers. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced or newly qualified counselling lecturer. We would also welcome applicants with sector experience who wish to retrain as a lecturer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and teach on our counselling qualifications, level 2 to level 5 to agreed success targets.
  • Work with the teaching team and NHS colleagues to develop new courses based on sector demand.
  • Regularly review and monitor the attendance and progress of learners and follow up as required to ensure learners achieve their targets.
  • Maintain quality systems related to the teaching of counselling and other Health and Social Care related modules including designing work schemes, lesson plans, assessment plans and assessment activities.
Skills, knowledge and expertise

Qualifications and training

  • Degree or equivalent in Counselling is require
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards is desirable

Skills and expertise

  • The ability to work as a team member contributing to the development of teaching and learning strategies.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at individual and group level
  • Willingness to participate in a very comprehensive staff development program
  • Ability to work on own initiative and manage workload effectively.
